Supported by the Government of Hungary, in June 2019, the Central and Eastern European Academy of Oncology was founded with twenty-one participant countries, creating an international alliance in cancer research and treatment.

The joint work includes all areas of care, such as surgery,  radiotherapy, chemotherapy, coordination of national cancer programs, and postgraduate education for professionals, but cooperation between countries could also manifest itself in pharmaceutical innovation and clinical research.

With the creation of the academy, this region could take a huge step toward the direction Western Europe and the United States have already started going. Considering the fact, however, that every state of affairs is different, our circumstances and options are different, and the fact that separately, we are weak, this collaboration strengthens this region and its countries not only in the field of medicine in general, but beyond that.
